In beautiful, clear winter weather you have a fantastic view from the Mainzer Berg over the Burgkirchenglände and the surroundings. In the distance you can see the Kandrich in the Ingelheim forest and into the Rhine valley., © Rainer Oppenheimer© Rainer Oppenheimer

Winter in Ingelheim is one of the most magical times of year in the red wine town. In the run-up to Christmas, the houses are festively decorated and invitingly illuminated. A light smell of cinnamon wafts through the alleyways from many corners and the current "Winzerglühwein 2023" is THE drink for every occasion. Romantic Christmas markets open their doors and their stalls invite you to enjoy, socialise and drink mulled wine. A cosy Christmas feeling is guaranteed here.

On clear, dry winter days, the Ingelheim wine landscape is perfect for a long winter walk. Even better, of course, is a short snow walk, perhaps with sledging ... Let's see, maybe we'll be lucky this winter and get to enjoy the marvellous winter wonderland.

City walks

Our "historical tours" are ideal for short walks on wet and cold rainy days. With the guided monument signposting through some parts of the town, you can take a "self-guided tour of the town".

Tip: The "Ober-Ingelheim Historical Tour" can be wonderfully combined with a visit to the Christmas market in the castle church grounds.

After a long walk in the fresh, clear air, a stop at one of Ingelheim's beautiful restaurants is a must. Our restaurateurs have adapted their menus to the season and there are delicious winter dishes everywhere.
