The extraordinary steep gable of this former tithe estate originated in the Gothic period. It experienced a significant alteration in 1612. At that time, among others, the elaborate renaissance arched gateway made of diamond shaped ashlars was added.

The connection to the Hersfeld convent (until 1392) can be traced back to a gift from Charlemagne. Of all the estates belonging to the later abbey of the house Hessen-Kassel, the property in Ober-Ingelheim was kept the longest – whereby the wine had probably achieved a special significance.

From 1623 onwards the influential dynasty of the Lopes de Villanova lived there, to whom a baroque gravestone of black marble in the Burgkirche is a reminder. The only heiress married into the family of the Freiherrn (baron) von Geismar in 1722, who remained the owners of the farmstead until 1805.
