In the midst of gardens lies the Rechenborn spring. Before the establishment of today's water supply, springs were of invaluable importance for the water supply of villages. In 1760, the Rechenborn spring was equipped with three pipes from which water still flows to the surface today. According to tradition, the three pipes symbolize the three religions (Protestants, Catholics, Jews) that have shaped community life in Appenheim.
