Former Market Square
Since 1381, weekly markets were held here between the late medieval main gate of the hall (Imperial Palace area) and the main road Mainz-Bingen. A town hall, first mentioned in 1598, limited the formerly smaller rectangular square in the north. In 1859, the old building had to be demolished to make way for an expansion of the square and a representative new town hall.

Old Town Hall
The dominating former Nieder-Ingelheim town hall was completed in 1862. The impressive limestone block building in the Neo-Romanesque style illustrates the economic rise of the community in the second half of the 19th century. Since the construction of the new town hall on Binger Straße in a central location, the old town hall has been used for exhibitions, particularly for those of the International Days.

Market Fountain
The classicist run fountain with a column-like fountain shaft made of red sandstone dates back to the Napoleonic era, which was created in 1811 according to the plans of Georg Arnold, the engineer of the Mainz arrondissement, later Upper Building Director of Hesse. The two smaller troughs, which flank the round basin, served as a washing place and drinking trough for cattle.

Former Protestant Schoolhouse (François-Lachenal-Platz 7) In the eastern corner of the square, the Protestant schoolhouse was built in 1828 as a two-story plastered building with a high base, whose classicist forms testify to the lasting influence of French revolutionary architecture. From 1917 to 1934, the building housed the "zoological and historical museum" with the collections of the Ingelheim researcher Carlo von Erlanger and the Historical Society Ingelheim e. V.
