Gold coin of Charlemagne

The museum at the Imperial Palace invites you on a historical journey from the Stone Age to the High Middle Ages. A large exhibition room is dedicated to the Imperial Palace of Charlemagne. Here, the most spectacular find from the Imperial Palace Ingelheim is also displayed, the solidus or gold coin of Charlemagne. The external monuments of the Imperial Palace are located in immediate proximity, as the museum is situated at the entrance of this significant historical monument.
Furthermore, the permanent exhibition provides information about prehistory, the Roman period, and the early Middle Ages in the Ingelheim area. Two and a half life-sized Roman grave figures can currently be seen in the museum at the Imperial Palace, along with a small sensation: Even after 2,000 years, remnants of the colored painting can still be discovered – even with the naked eye! This is definitely something not to be missed. Thanks to the mobile app "Ingelheim in Roman Times" users can learn more about the three Roman statues.

In every department of the museum, there are special children's text panels for individual exhibits. In the museum courtyard, which invites visitors to linger with deck chairs, benches, and tables, plants from the medieval landholding regulations of Charlemagne can be studied. The museum building is barrier-free and equipped with a small cafeteria and a museum shop area.
virtual 360° tour invites exploration of the exhibition rooms. This offers the opportunity to visit the museum anytime, even from afar.
Additionally, an attractive and extensive event program throughout the year invites exhibitions, festivals, lectures, guided tours, and workshops on historical topics.

Note:
Admission to the museum at the Imperial Palace costs €3.00 per person (from 18 years of age), while admission is free for children and teenagers!
