The author Marion Fröhlich reads from her novel
DRAGON BLOOD or You Cannot Get Divorced from Your Mother-in-Law
Mother-in-laws have a tremendous literary talent: They show up uninvited, know better (sometimes rightly so), mean well – and occasionally leave behind significant emotional craters.
In the DRAGON BLOOD story, Vivien learns how conflicts between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law can turn into a struggle for self-determination and control, characterized by silent adaptation and growing pressure.
The first volume of the novel describes how Vivien frees herself from a web of expectations, power, and emotional dependency, and in the end becomes a mother-in-law herself.
Marion Fröhlich, born and raised in Mainz in 1959, has been living in Nieder-Olm for 20 years. The mother of three in a patchwork family is a barre and ballet trainer, author, and active dancer between the ballet bar and the keyboard.
