Public guided tour "2000 years of funeral culture

This is about life and death!

How people bury their deceased tells a lot about their beliefs, their culture, and their time. Discover how rituals and traditions have changed over the centuries.

The tour starts at the historic churchyard of the Burgkirche and leads to the communal cemetery in Ober-Ingelheim. Along the way, you will encounter traces of pre-Christian burials, learn more about the changes brought by Christianity, the cemetery culture of the Middle Ages and early modern times, as well as the Jewish cemetery on Rotweinstraße. Topics such as cremation, military cemeteries, modern burial practices, and the current Rhineland-Palatinate burial law will also be clearly explained.

Cost: 10 € per person, youth from 12 to including 17 years 5 € per person, children up to including 11 years are free
