Stone and bone - Stone Age in Ingelheim

Stone and Bone - Life in the Stone Age

The prehistory and early history department of the museum covers a period of around 50,000 years of human history in the Ingelheim region.

Stone artefacts from hand ax to scraper prove the presence of hunters and gatherers between Mainzer Berg and Westerberg well before the last Ice Age (approx. 50,000 years BC). Exhibits dating back to the Bronze and Iron Ages give us an insight into the life situation and working methods of our ancestors. Visual material to touch and try out brings the Stone Age to life.
A workshop on this topic can also be booked on request.
