Weingut Schloss Westerhaus

Winery Westerhaus Castle

Wines and estates are spectacular. The castle ensemble (16th/17th century) towers stately over Ingelheim. In 1900, the von Opel family acquired the estate. Today, the VDP winery is run by Count and Countess Schönburg-Glauchau in the fourth generation. It benefits from an outstanding stock of vines in the Schloss Westerhaus monopollage and other sites in the Selz Valley. Wine tastings are available by appointment for up to 50 people.

The Dautermann winery is one of the places to go in Ingelheim. Ambitiously Kurt and Kristian Dautermann - who now also belong to the elite squad of the "Deutsche Weinelf" (National German winemaker's football club) - bring forward the family winery. With 65 percent red wine, the red wine specialists have increased their popularity especially with their extraordinary Pinot Noirs recently. But even with the traditional white wines - whether Riesling, Silvaner or Pinot Gris - this winery has a great...

In 2004, Jürgen Mett and his wife Silke Weidenbach also took over the vineyards of the in-laws, the renowned Weidenbach winery. More than 70 percent of the vineyard is planted with red varieties, mostly with Pinot Noir and Pinot Madeleine, the traditional varieties of red wine town. Jürgen Mett pursues a clear and open philosophy: he places value on honest wines, the origin and type of variety unadulterated...

Picturesquely situated between the Ober-Ingelheim Castle Church and the vineyards, wine has been successfully made here for 20 years. Robert and Herbert Hamm have a high demand on their own work, which they carry with great commitment in the vineyards. Here, the basis for the first-class wines is created by a lot of manual work. On 18 ha in selected Ober-Ingelheim vineyards classic grape varieties are grown, such as Silvaner, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc. In the case of red wines, the range of varieties has been...
