Freunde Ingelheimer Filmkultur - Parallele Mütter

Two children are born. One of the two babies dies of sudden infant death syndrome. The other grows up in the care of Janis, but it dawns on him that something is not right: a genetic test makes it clear that 17-year-old Ana is the girl's biological mother, the acquaintance from the birth phase. The babies were swapped at the hospital. The rapprochement between the two women forms the narrative arc of the film, although the premise could hardly be more different: Ana was forced into sex by a few boys and has little other stability in life; but she fights. Janis, on the other hand, is successful as a photographer and gets along well.
What could have been a typical Almódovar farce, with shrill women who realize themselves to the point of impossibility, is actually an unusually calm, psychologically sensitive tragedy. The situation of parallel mothers slowly and credibly becomes a contemporary family patchwork.
